The Royal Television Society (RTS) is an open membership programme allowing anyone in the public with an interest in the medium of Television the opportunity to come together and exchange ideas, salve and debate/explore key issues. In 1966 the RTS was granted its Royal title, and has quickly become Britain’s leading forum for television and related media for its quality and originality.

Working as an educational charity over 13 regional centres across the UK and Republic of Ireland, the RTS offers its members the opportunity to come to lectures, events, organised dinners with speakers on current issues and the future of all aspects of television. They even provide a monthly magazine to all its members involving properties across the creative community.

This is a fantastic cause run by hundreds of volunteers to help keep the British Television community alive and strong. Being members of this society and also working in Teddington Television Studios we believe in the goodness this charity has provided over the years, and are in fact attending their next lecture on Budgets in Drama.

Working as a video production company, we understand the struggle that all independent video production companies face with competition, budget restraints and the challenges of today’s market climate. However, with social media and new technology continuously developing at a speed rate, video production companies can now distribute their services through new platforms reaching a global platform that was once unavailable. Although it may seem as if the internet and all this technology has been around for ages, it is still very much in the development stages, making it a fascinating time to be in the video production/Television industry. This is why it is so important to be involved in such societies as the RTS, as it allows video production companies as ourselves an insight into the trending markets, the best equipment and tips out there for individuals in the industry and where the market looks to be in the next few years.
